Epigastric Hernia

An epigastric or supraumbilical hernia is a swelling that occurs in the midline anywhere from above the belly button to below the rib cage. These tend to occur in older children and can sometimes be painful. Unlike umbilical hernias, epigastric hernias do not close spontaneously and require surgical repair.
