Thoracoscopy/Thoracoscopic surgery

Like laparoscopic surgery, thoracoscopic surgery is a form of minimally invasive surgery. However, it involves an operation in the chest rather than in the abdomen. Thoracoscopy is used to diagnose and treat many conditions including: diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), lung conditions, infections and pus in the chest as well as excessive sweating of the hands or arms (hyperhidrosis).

Once again it is important to note that not every chest condition can be treated safely with thoracoscopy and every patient is assessed individually to decide if a thoracoscopic or open procedure would offer them the safest and best outcome.
